Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy in Central Iowa

Reclaim Your Strength
pelvic health physical therapists

Your pelvic floor supports so much more than most people realize.

Your pelvic floor holds more than muscle — it holds pieces of your confidence, your intimacy, your sense of feeling like yourself. When something feels off, it ripples into your relationships, your parenting, your everyday life, often quietly, because it's not something people talk about.

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is specialized, whole-body care for one of the most overlooked — and most important — muscle groups in your body, covering everything from bladder and bowel control to intimacy, core strength, pregnancy, and recovery after childbirth.

We might be the first person you ever tell about what you're experiencing. We treat these body parts and these stories every day, so nothing you share here is ever too much information — it's exactly what we need to help you feel like yourself again.

What is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy?

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy is hands-on, specialized care for the muscles that quietly shape so much of your daily life — how you laugh without leaking, how comfortable you feel during intimacy, how connected you feel to your own body after pregnancy, surgery, or years of just pushing through.

Your therapist evaluates the strength, tension, and coordination of your pelvic floor muscles, then builds a plan using hands-on techniques, targeted exercises, and education — so you're not just managing symptoms, you're understanding your body and healing at the root.

We know it takes courage to talk about these symptoms, let alone treat them — so we hold space for that vulnerability while helping you track the wins that matter, big or small: a full night without a leak, a pain-free workout, feeling present again during intimacy.

Why Choose Revive?

Central Iowa's Pelvic Floor Experts

Our therapists are trained through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute — the gold standard in pelvic floor certification — but what makes Revive different is how we hold that expertise alongside real compassion. We know these conversations aren't easy, and many of our patients have spent months or years searching for someone who finally listens.

We treat the whole person, not just the pelvic floor in isolation. Your physical symptoms, your emotional stress, your relationships — it's all connected, and your treatment plan reflects that. This is where real, lasting change happens: not just symptom relief, but a genuine sense of getting your life back.

What to expect during your first visit

We'll start with a conversation, not an exam — your history, your symptoms, your goals, all shared at your pace. From there, we'll talk through what a physical evaluation involves and what makes sense for where you're at today.

Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy FAQs

  • For most patients, yes — internal assessment and treatment can be the most effective way to evaluate and treat pelvic floor muscles directly. It's always optional, always explained in full beforehand, and always done at your pace. External treatment can still get results, but we believe the Gold Standard is internal exams when there is patient consent and when deemed necessary"

  • No referral needed — Iowa is a direct access state, so you can schedule directly with us.

  • Your first visit is mostly conversation: your history, your symptoms, your goals, and any questions you have. Nothing is too much information here — we treat these body parts every day, and full information helps us find the root cause, not just the symptoms.

  • Not at all. Men experience pelvic floor dysfunction too — pain, urinary issues, and post-surgical recovery are all common reasons men seek treatment. We provide the same expert, judgment-free care for every patient.

  • Every treatment plan is different. Some patients feel significant relief in just a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing care over several months. Your therapist will build a timeline based on your specific goals and progress.
